UWED Discusses Teaching Foreign Languages in the Era of Globalization
On December 18, 2024, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted the international conference "Innovations in Foreign Language Teaching in the Era of Globalization and Sustainable Development."
This conference brought together local and international experts, linguists, university professors, doctoral students, independent researchers, and students to share their experiences based on scientific theory and practical experience.
The event highlights that English for Specific Purposes (ESP) plays a pivotal role in the contemporary world, as it empowers professionals from diverse fields to communicate effectively and exchange information on an international scale.
A substantial portion of specialized knowledge is disseminated in the English language, and ESP training enables professionals to read and comprehend technical documents, journals, and research within their respective disciplines.
The teaching of interpreting is of paramount importance, as the preparation of qualified professionals who can meet the growing demand for interpreting services is a highly complex process. By integrating SDGs into English language teaching, learners are prepared to participate in addressing the most pressing issues of our time and to create a better future for all.
In addition to the plenary session, four sections were held within the framework of the international conference. They examined approaches and practices in professionally oriented teaching of foreign languages, research into general issues of their study, issues of translation theory and practice, and the integration of sustainable development goals into teaching.
