On March 19 of the this year, in the conference hall of the World Society for the Study, Preservation, and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan (WOSCU), a media event on the topic “Civilizational Potential of Uzbekistan as a Mechanism of Soft Power” took place.
The event was organized by WOSCU and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. It was attended by representatives of international organizations, national media, as well as the faculty and students of UWED.
Sodyq Safoev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Rector of UWED, noted in his speech that special attention is paid to the wide dissemination of cultural, scientific, and spiritual heritage in the country. He emphasized that this is an important aspect of “soft power”. Rector Safoev mentioned ongoing efforts to establish several platforms in the country to help future diplomats acquire relevant skills in this direction.
“Cooperation between UWED and WOSCU will contribute to promoting Uzbekistan’s cultural potential on the international stage”, S.Safoev stated.
In turn, the head of the WOSCU board, Dr. Firdavs Abduhalikov, pointed out that the issues related to the study and preservation of Uzbekistan's cultural heritage are being elevated to a new level.
He highlighted that these achievements are a result of the attention given by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to the sphere of culture and spirituality.
During the event, an exhibition of WOSCU books and albums, a video presentation about the activities of UWED, student clubs, and WOSCU, as well as an artistic performance by the “Diplomat” theater titled “Jadid” with musical performances by UWED students, took place.
It is worth noting that WOSCU has a long history of development since 2017. The society has organized six international congresses, 25 forums and media events, and has published 70 books-albums as part of the series “Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in the Collections of the World”. The mission of the project is to study, preserve, and promote Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage.
