On April 9, 2025, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted a session with Irina Ulmasova-Olive, Regional Manager for Central Asia at the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF, Switzerland).
In her lecture, Irina Ulmasova-Olive provided a comprehensive overview of the concept of “violent extremism”, analyzing the key factors contributing to its emergence on both regional and global scales. She placed particular emphasis on examining the impact of extremism and violence on societal processes and stability.
The lecturer highlighted the critical role of international organizations in combating violent extremism and terrorism, while also presenting effective approaches and strategies aimed at mitigating global threats. At the conclusion of the session, she engaged with students, addressing their questions and offering in-depth insights into the current issues and challenges that are of significant concern to the younger generation.
