A discussion on the topic “Ideas of Enlightenment and Progress in Behbudi’s Works” was organized at UWED

On March 26 of this year, a discussion on the topic “Ideas of Enlightenment and Progress in Behbudi’s Works” was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Mahmudhoja Behbudi’s birth.
The event heard students’ opinions on the work of Mahmudhoja Behbudi, one of the leaders of the Jadid movement, especially on his role in educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, as well as on his importance in increasing intellectual and spiritual potential. In particular, special attention was paid to his drama “Padarkush”, written in 1911. This work glorifies enlightenment as a counteraction to ignorance, illiteracy and bad manners, reveals the future of an uneducated child and his negative impact on society.
During the discussion, the importance of the family environment in upbringing, education and strengthening the role of youth in society through his works was discussed. The work carried out to perpetuate the memory of Mahmudhoja Behbudiy, the in-depth study of his life and work, and the wide popularization of his scientific and artistic heritage were also noted.
