    On February 25, a meeting was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Uzbekistan, Piergabriele Papadia de Bottini.

    The high-ranking diplomat was welcomed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and Rector of UWED, Sodyq Safoev.

    During the discussion, prospects for strengthening Uzbek-Italian relations were explored, along with an exchange of views on the development of Uzbekistan’s partnership with the European Union.

    The ambassador expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of cooperation between Italy and Uzbekistan, emphasizing that their relations have reached a new level. He also highlighted the significant reforms Uzbekistan has undertaken in education, arts, sports, and culture in recent years, noting that these efforts are already yielding positive results.

    Regarding cooperation between the university and the embassy, the diplomat highly praised the activities of the Italian Center at UWED. It was noted that the center serves as a bridge between the two countries, not only by facilitating language learning but also by fostering cultural and humanitarian exchange.

    As a result of the conversation, proposals were made to increase the number of Italian universities collaborating with UWED and to expand exchange programs for teachers and students.

    During his visit to UWED, the Ambassador of Italy also met with faculty members and students studying the Italian language.

    He was provided with detailed information about the activities of the UWED Language Center. A presentation highlighted various aspects of cooperation between Italy and Uzbekistan, including exchange programs, scientific internships, and joint projects in education and culture.

    Concluding the meeting, Piergabriele Papadia de Bottini commended the high level of student training and the professionalism of the teaching staff, expressing admiration for the university’s language center. He reaffirmed the Embassy of Italy’s commitment to further expanding cooperation in education, science, and culture and expressed readiness to support all initiatives aimed at strengthening the partnership.
