UWED students took part in a Turkish language course at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (Türkiye)
From December 28, 2024 to January 6, 2025, a 10-day intensive training course in Turkish was organized in Burdur, Turkey for UWED students studying Turkish. The training course was held within the framework of academic cooperation between the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and Turkey's Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKU).
The 10-day intensive courses, which were held at the MAKU Turkish Education Center, were attended by 10 UWED students, as well as representatives of the UWED Department of Romance and Germanic Languages, headed by the head of the department V.A. Mamatkasimova.
According to the program of the event, UWED students, with the help of instructors and linguists from the Turkish MAKU University, were able to improve their language skills, and also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the history and culture of Burdur in more detail.
Within the framework of the training course, a meeting was also held with the rector of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Dr. Huseyin Dalgar. Welcoming the UWED delegation, the rector of MAKU noted the tendency of strengthening cultural, humanitarian and scientific ties between Uzbekistan and Turkey. According to the rector, MAKU University currently cooperates with 20 higher education institutions of Uzbekistan on the basis of agreements and memorandums; about 70 Uzbek students study at MAKU University alone. Rector H. Dalgar expressed interest in deepening academic exchange with UWED and, in order to move to the practical plane, proposed opening joint departments in the two universities to expand the exchange of information.
In addition to advanced training courses, representatives of the UWED Department of Romance and Germanic Languages exchanged views and experiences with Turkish colleagues in professionally oriented teaching of foreign languages, joint research on general issues of their study, considered issues of translation theory and practice, integration of sustainable development goals into teaching.
