On December 20^th, an online meeting was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy with Uzbekistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ulugbek Khidirovich Lapasov.

The meeting was attended by the deans of the «International Relations» and «World Economy and Management» faculties, as well as faculty members and students.

During the meeting, Mr. Lapasov shared his unique experience in diplomacy, particularly in multilateral negotiations and advancing Uzbekistan’s national interests on the global stage. He highlighted the significant achievements resulting from Uzbekistan’s collaboration with the United Nations and its specialized agencies, noting that five resolutions based on the Republic’s proposals were adopted over the past year, underscoring the increasing recognition of the country’s initiatives in international arena.

During the second part of the meeting, the Permanent Representative focused on students’ questions, providing valuable and practical advice for those aspiring to build a diplomatic career. He discussed the pathways to a successful diplomatic career based on his personal experience, emphasized the key qualities required for diplomats working in international organizations, and shared insights into the nuances of working within the UN system and its specialized agencies.

In conclusion of the meeting, further collaboration between UWED and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the UN was discussed, as well as the possibility of organizing additional lectures and seminars focusing on the most current issues in international relations.
