UWED hosted a meeting with IWMI Country Director in Pakistan, Iskandar Abdullaev
On August 15 of this year, at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Akram Umarov held a meeting with the country director of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in Pakistan, Iskandar Abdullaev.
During the meeting, the importance of enhancing collaboration in promoting water diplomacy and relevant educational initiatives was emphasized. The parties discussed the need to establish joint programs and projects aimed at improving water resources management in the region. It was agreed that the exchange of knowledge and best practices can contribute to more sustainable use of water resources.
Special attention was paid to the development of educational programs for training specialists in the field of water diplomacy. In turn, it was proposed to strengthen regional cooperation in this sphere to ensure long-term water security.
I. Abdullaev also stressed the need for an integrated approach to studying water problems in the Central Asian region. He noted that climate change is an important aspect to be taken into account in the study of water resources. In his opinion, it is crucial to consider the impact of climate change on water availability and quality for deep understanding and effective management of water resources in this region.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in successful continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation and emphasized the importance of intensifying regular contacts to achieve common goals.
