UWED and South Korean KNOU intend to cooperate to establish online education
A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and the Korea National Open University (KNOU).
The document was signed on August 17 of this year following the meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev with the South Korean delegation headed by KNOU President Ko Songhwan.
S. Safoev stressed that the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev pays special attention to expanding multifaceted cooperation with the Republic of Korea.
“The most important area of our partnership is the field of education, in which South Korea has achieved great success. We would like to establish close cooperation in this direction, relying on the most modern information technologies,” - he said.
In turn, Ko Songhwan expressed his readiness to establish close cooperation with the UWED and exchange experience in training highly qualified specialists in the most sought-after professions.
“We see great transformations in Uzbekistan and we are confident that close and friendly relations will be established between our universities,” - he stressed.
The parties discussed the possibility of creating the first online learning university in Central Asia. The prospects for organizing distance education starting from the lyceum were also considered.
The Korean side was presented with a presentation of the project of the first digital university in Central Asia, in which it is planned to establish courses in such areas as IT technology, modern teaching methods and international relations. Within the framework of the project, it is initially planned to train up to one and a half thousand students from Uzbekistan and foreign countries.
During the visit to the UWED, the KNOU delegation got acquainted with the campus, the eco-library, the Executive Education faculty, and visited the Korean center of the University.
