The delegation of Uzbekistan visited the King Saud University in Riyadh
Yesterday, as part of a visit to Saudi Arabia, a delegation of Uzbekistan headed by First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev met with the rector of the King Saud University Badron al-Umar.
At the beginning of the talks, Badron al-Umar noted that an important factor in the development of comprehensive relations is the mutual trust and friendly relations that have developed between the heads of the two countries. In particular, it opens up new opportunities for the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research.
Badron al-Umar noted that the leadership of Saudi Arabia attaches priority to the development of relations with Uzbekistan among the countries of Central Asia. It is recognized that such great scientists and thinkers as Imam Bukhari, Imam at-Tirmizi, al-Zamakhshari and others who came from the territory of present-day Uzbekistan made a huge contribution to the development of Islamic civilization. As the Saudi rector noted, “if the Uzbek people are proud to be the descendants of these ancestors, then we are proud that the famous and unique works created by them are written in Arabic”.
The Saudi scientist also highly appreciated the large-scale reforms carried out by Uzbekistan in the development of science and education, in particular, foreign languages, including Arabic, are taught in a number of higher educational institutions of the country.
It should be noted that the King Saud University was created the first in the history of the country and is considered the main institution of higher education that trains personnel in the field of foreign policy and international cooperation. UWED trains qualified personnel for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, as well as other ministries and departments. In this regard, an agreement was reached on cooperation in such areas as improving the quality of teaching the Arabic language, organizing short-term courses to improve the skills of Arabic language teachers, preparing joint textbooks and teaching aids, as well as other topical aspects of mutual cooperation in the field of education.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the preparation of a draft Memorandum of Understanding, which will be signed between the two universities.
