    A delegation of the Republic of Korea headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin visited the University of World Economy and Diplomacy

    On June 3, this year a delegation of the Republic of Korea headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin visited the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

    Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin was met by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev.

    UWED hosted a solemn ceremony of conferring the title of Honorary Doctor of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy to South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin for his great contribution to strengthening the Uzbek-South Korean multifaceted relations, expanding cooperation in the field of science and education.

    “We highly appreciate your merits in expanding and strengthening cooperation between our countries in various fields. In this regard, a special place is given to cultural and humanitarian interaction, the establishment of a constructive partnership in the field of higher education, scientific research”, S. Safoev said at the ceremony.

    The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, thanking for awarding him the title of Honorable Doctor, expressed his wishes for the further development of cooperation between the universities of South Korea and Uzbekistan.

    “We are located in different parts of Eurasia, but share the same values. Working together for a better world, I will do my best to strengthen bilateral relations”, the minister stressed.

    In the presence of high-ranking officials, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy under UWED and the Korean National Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea took place. The document was signed by the director of the Diplomatic Academy under UWED A.Khaydarov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Uzbekistan Kim Hee-sang.

    On the same day, a round table was held at UWED on the topic: “The situation on the Korean Peninsula and the prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea”.

    “We are grateful to the Republic of Korea for the constant support of independent Uzbekistan, for effective assistance in the implementation of large-scale reforms carried out on the initiative and under the leadership of President Sh.M. Mirziyoyev, aimed at the political and economic modernization of the country”, said S. Safoev, opening this event.

    Minister Park Jin, welcoming the participants of the round table in Uzbek, thanked for the invitation to visit the UWED and the opportunity to discuss the prospects for cooperation between the two countries, as well as regional security issues.

    The participants of the round table paid special attention to the prospects for further strengthening the Uzbek-South Korean friendship and special strategic partnership, building up full-scale cooperation, primarily in trade, economic, investment, financial and technical fields.

    The importance of continuing the traditionally close and constructive political dialogue, mutual support within the framework of international organizations, including the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, was emphasized.

    Topical issues on the international and regional agenda were also considered.

    “We are convinced that the deepening of bilateral political dialogue, inter-parliamentary cooperation, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, ties through “people’s diplomacy” will not only benefit our countries, but will also become a powerful factor in peace and security, sustainable development of our regions”, said the rector of UWED at the conclusion of the meeting.
