On February 14 of this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted an international conference on the topic “Women Scientists – Mirror of Society”. This event was organized within the framework of the week of the same name, which is held in Uzbekistan from February 10 to 15.

The conference was attended by representatives of the Family and Women's Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Embassy of India, scientists of international and local higher education institutions, chairpersons of women's advisory councils, members of the “Girl Leaders” clubs, representatives of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs, as well as faculty, students and doctoral students of UWED.

In her speech, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation of UWED Gulnoza Ismailova emphasized that the United Nations attaches particular importance to gender equality in the context of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

"Uzbekistan currently occupies a leading position in the scientific field, and it is gratifying that the share of women in science in our country is 48 percent," she emphasized.

The event widely discussed state policy towards women in Uzbekistan, especially in terms of supporting their scientific activities using global experience. In particular, the opportunities provided in countries such as Finland, India, the People's Republic of China and South Korea were considered.
