The prospects for developing cooperation with Italian universities were discussed at UWED

On February 13, 2025, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted a meeting with Marco Farchi, a member of the Board of the Italian-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as Elena Vyan, a representative of the Embassy of Italy in Tashkent.
Representatives from UWED included First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs A. Umarov, V. Mamatkasimova, Head of the Chair of Romano-Germanic Languages, M. Madrakhimova, an Italian language teacher, as well as representatives from the Office of International Academic Cooperation.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed key areas for the further development of academic and scientific cooperation between UWED and Italian universities.
Marco Farchi shared his perspective on the positive trends in the growth of educational cooperation between Uzbekistan and Italy, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties between universities of both countries. He highlighted Italy's interest in developing joint educational programs with Uzbekistan, including summer courses that go beyond language disciplines, as well as dual degree programs within the Erasmus+ framework.
The creation of internship programs for students and the development of joint research projects were also discussed.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working on the implementation of the proposed initiatives, strengthening educational and scientific ties between the universities of both countries. They also outlined further steps for more active and successful collaboration in the future.
