On December 3 of this year, a round table was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy dedicated to the empowerment of women and the promotion of gender equality.

The event was attended by the representative of the UN Women structure in Uzbekistan, Ceren Guven.

The round table discussed key aspects such as strengthening mechanisms for protecting the rights of women and children, reviewing legislative achievements in combating violence, and the need for an interdisciplinary approach to addressing gender inequality.

The participants paid particular attention to the statistical data from a study aimed at studying the scale of gender-based violence in the country. These data play a critical role in developing effective response measures.

It was emphasized that only joint efforts of state and public organizations can ensure sustainable results in the fight for equality and justice.

The round table at the university was organized as part of the campaign "16 days of activism against gender-based violence", which covers the whole of Uzbekistan, uniting the efforts of state structures, civil society and international organizations. Its goal is to raise awareness, promote dialogue and create conditions for practical combating violence.

UWED actively supports this initiative. Earlier, as part of the campaign, the university held an international scientific and practical conference on the topic: "Current issues of ensuring gender equality in Uzbekistan: current status and future tasks." This event also became a significant step towards strengthening the principles of equality and justice in the country.
