On December 3 of this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy held master classes and a demonstration game called “Rugby for Future Diplomats”.

The event was attended by the Executive Director of the Rugby Federation of Uzbekistan Bekhzod Ibragimov, coaches of the national rugby team Danil Kulikov, Asad Gulyamov and Egor Lebed, members of the national team, representatives of the sports club, the Student Council and the Youth Union of UWED, as well as students.

Opening the event, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Rector of UWED Sadyq Safoev emphasized the importance of widespread promotion of sports and a healthy lifestyle among young people, calling on the participants to actively engage in sports. Sharing his personal experience, he noted that rugby as a sport attaches great importance to the development of such qualities as willpower and determination in young people. The main part of the event was devoted to theoretical and practical classes with the participation of the senior coach of the national youth rugby team Egor  Lebed and UWED students. After the training, members of the national rugby team held an exhibition game for the participants of the event.

In the final part of the event, the head coaches of the national rugby team presented memorable gifts to the students who actively participated in the mastery classes, and the federation presented rugby balls to the university sports club.

For information. Rugby has been developing in Uzbekistan since 1969. Since 2003, the Rugby Federation has been created and registered at the state level in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Since 2006, the federation has been accepted as a member of the Asian Rugby Union (ASIA RUGBY), and since 2014 - as a member of the International Rugby Federation (WORLD RUGBY).

The Rugby Federation of Uzbekistan has created regional federations in all regions, currently there are more than 120 coaches working in the republic, more than 3000 people are constantly involved in this sport. The national team of the Republic of Uzbekistan constantly participates in international rugby-7 competitions, increasing the authority of our country and sports ties in the international arena.
