    On November 23 of this year, in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev met with the Executive Director of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zoritsa Urosevic and Director of the  Institutional Relations, Partnerships and Advocacy Department Dilyor Khakimov.

    The meeting took place within the framework of the International Tourism Fair "Tourism along the Silk Road", held in Tashkent from November 21 to 23, 2024.

    S. Safoev emphasized the university's commitment to developing significant partnerships, focusing on several key areas. Firstly, these are joint research initiatives aimed at stimulating innovation in the field of tourism, sustainable development and environmental protection. Secondly, UWED is actively developing student internships that combine academic theory with practical skills, preparing students to solve global challenges. In addition, the university focuses on environmental cooperation, promoting sustainable tourism practices, protecting natural resources and raising awareness of environmental protection. The rector also reported that UWED implements global projects that promote international cooperation, professional growth of students and sustainable development. These areas highlight the university's commitment to creating effective partnerships and solving pressing problems of our time.

    During the discussion with UNWTO representatives, emphasis was placed on the need to integrate environmental and sustainable approaches into academic and professional initiatives.

    Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between UWED and UNWTO.
