A meeting between the representatives of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and employees of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the United Arab Amirates was held on 8 November.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Language Centre, Deans of the Faculties of International Relations, International Economics and Management, the Heads of the Departments of Oriental Languages, International Economy and International Finance and Investment. The Embassy was represented by counsellor for political and cultural issues A. Abdukhalimov.

The issues of establishment of mutually beneficial co-operation between faculties and departments of the UWED and universities, research institutions in Emirates were under discussion.

In the course of the meeting, the importance of establishing cooperation in the fields of exchange between professors, researchers and students of higher education institutions in the Emirates, teaching Arabic language, organising professional training courses for teachers of the Arabic language, joint research work for grants as well as international conferences, scientific-practical seminars and master classes was highlighted.

In this regard, the Embassy supported proposals to provide practical assistance in establishing direct co-operation between UWED and the University of Sharjah in the UAE, Arabic Language Academy in the Emirate of Sharjah, which expressed interest in developing partnership with the UWED.

The participants of the event underscored the importance of the meeting, and an agreement was reached to further expand and strengthen co-operation in scientific, academic and cultural spheres between the UWED and the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Emirates.
