Regional cooperation in the field of water resources and climate was discussed at UWED
On August 16 of this year, a meeting took place at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy with Lisa Marina Gamp, the regional advisor on water resources and climate change at the Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan.
Opening the meeting, Akram Umarov, the first vice-rector of UWED for academic affairs, emphasized the relevance of establishing cooperation in the development of water diplomacy and the formulation of educational initiatives in this area.
The parties highlighted the importance of joint research and programs aimed at building capacity to address issues related to transboundary water use in the region. Potential joint projects on sustainable water resource management and the integration of climate change mitigation strategies were discussed.
Particular emphasis was placed on the need to develop partnerships between academic institutions, governments, and international organizations to effectively tackle these pressing issues.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue the dialogue aimed at forming an integrated and sustainable approach to regional water and climate diplomacy in Central Asia.
