    The delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev took part in the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

    The event was attended by heads of government, parliaments, relevant ministries responsible for women's issues, family, social development of UN member states, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and international structures.

    The session was addressed by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President of the 79th General Assembly Philemon Young, President of the Economic and Social Council Robert Rae, and Executive Director of UN Women Sima Bacchus.

    In particular, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized the urgent need to promote gender equality, especially in light of current global challenges. He called on member countries to renew their commitment to the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in honor of the 30th anniversary of their adoption, to eliminate the low representation of women in the public and technological sectors.

    In turn, the President of the 79th General Assembly said that "as the deadline for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals approaches in 2030, we must be determined to fulfill the promise of the Beijing Declaration - to end poverty and promote economic development."

    In addition, the President of ECOSOC noted the importance of unity and progress in achieving gender equality: "We must resist regression, stand united against injustice and chart a course that is bold, ambitious and unwavering in our commitment to the empowerment of women."

    At the end of the session, the Political Declaration dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action was adopted. The document reaffirms their commitment to the promotion and protection of the rights, equality and empowerment of all women and girls around the world, emphasizes the importance of eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls.

    The document notes the need to ensure equal participation of women in decision-making processes, recognizing that their participation is key to achieving democracy, peace and human rights.

    As part of the visit, the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN also organized a briefing on the experience of Central Asian countries in expanding women's rights and opportunities. It was attended by the heads of delegations of Central Asian countries, UN representatives and foreign delegations, as well as experts from academia and civil society.

    The Uzbek side presented detailed information on the state policy carried out under the leadership of the republic to ensure the rights and interests of women, increase their political and economic activity.

    With the assistance of the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN, the delegation of Uzbekistan held fruitful meetings with the UN Assistant Secretary-General - UNDP Deputy Administrator Ivan Zivkovic, as well as the heads of delegations of China, Germany, Latvia, Saudi Arabia, India and Indonesia.

    The participation of the delegation of Uzbekistan at the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women demonstrated the country's strong commitment to the principles of gender equality, protection of women's rights and the eradication of violence against women and girls. The international community highly appreciated Uzbekistan's policy in the area of ​​empowerment of women, as well as the reforms being implemented aimed at protecting their rights.
