Sodyq Safoev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and Rector of UWED, opened the event by emphasizing the significance of this publication, calling it a unique event in the scientific and political life of the country.
He highlighted that the creation of the book “History of Diplomacy of Uzbekistan” was made possible by the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sh. Mirziyoyev, who stressed the need for a dedicated scientific study on the deep history and development processes of Uzbek diplomacy during the years of independence.
S. Safoev noted that, based on the lessons of recent and ancient history, the renewed Uzbek diplomacy considers relations with neighboring countries, including Afghanistan, as one of the priorities.
"The regional foreign policy doctrine of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is based on the perception of Central Asia as a region with a common destiny, solving existing problems through joint efforts, taking into account mutual interests, as well as readiness for dialogue and compromise," S. Safoev emphasized.
Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Foreign Policy Issues Abdulaziz Kamilov noted in his speech that the study clearly illustrates the complex, turning points of international relations from ancient times to the present day, the influence of interstate relations on the course of history, as well as the close connection of historical events in our region and the world.
He also expressed confidence that the book “History of Diplomacy of Uzbekistan” will become an important scientific source on modern diplomacy and international relations and will serve as a basis for further research in this area.
During the speeches, it was noted that this comprehensive book is the result of the work of the country’s leading scholars, including historians, political scientists, orientalists, ethnographers, and cultural experts. Veterans of the diplomatic service, as well as active Uzbek diplomats, also contributed to this publication.
Members of the book's authorial team shared insights into the formation of the book's concept, the complex process of collecting archival materials, work on unique historical documents, and a deep analysis of the development of Uzbekistan's school of diplomacy from the early days of independence to the present.
"The history of Uzbek diplomacy has deep parallels with the history of the Kazakh people. Kazakh khans built relations with Bukhara and Kokand, developing cultural, economic and political ties between our peoples," said Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan Beibut Atamkulov. He also emphasized that these traditions are reflected today, when Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are jointly developing cooperation, which is becoming an example for all of Central Asia.
According to the participants of the presentation, the carefully selected and studied historical materials clearly outline the main stages of the formation of Uzbek diplomacy, its development in close connection with national history and centuries-old traditions, as well as modern trends in state-building.
The publication includes a wealth of historical material and unique documents demonstrating the special role of Central Asia in global cultural-historical, economic, and political processes.
Special emphasis is placed on the fact that the principles of Uzbek diplomacy, which have been formed over centuries and have contributed to the development of the economy, trade, communications, and the exchange of new technologies and ideas, are being revived in New Uzbekistan.
The book “History of Diplomacy of Uzbekistan” provides detailed information on the establishment of bilateral relations with leading countries of the world, participation in multilateral formats and international forums, and efforts toward the priority development of regional cooperation. It describes the consistent and meticulous diplomatic activities leading to the high authority Uzbekistan has achieved on the international stage today.
At the conclusion of the event, participants emphasized the need to continue research in this direction, given the vast amount of material and the new dynamics in the development of modern Uzbek diplomacy, with the prospect of publishing new, updated editions of the book “History of Diplomacy of Uzbekistan”.
