On New Year's Eve, students from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organized an event to distribute New Year's gifts to children from low-income families. This initiative was implemented as part of the UWED program aimed at achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Second- and third-year students majoring in German carried out a project called “Joy in a Box,” which collected sweets, fruits, food, clothes, and toys. They decided to give the gifts to young children from 15 low-income families living in the Katta Oltintepa mahalla in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent.
During the festive event organized by the mahalla committee, the gifts were presented. The chairman of the committee expressed gratitude to the students and proudly noted that “responsible and responsive youth are growing in our country, which indicates that the future of the country will be in reliable hands.”
The students not only presented gifts to the children but also talked to them and played with the little ones. This event allowed all participants to experience the power of human feelings of kindness and generosity.
