On November 5 of this year, UWED students had a unique opportunity to attend a guest lecture by Doctor of Law (PhD) Farangiz Avazbekova, chief inspector of the Public Service Development Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ARGOS).

During her presentation, the speaker provided valuable insights into the work of ARGOS, highlighting its role in improving public service standards and promoting effective governance in Uzbekistan.

She discussed various aspects of being a civil servant, including the challenges and rewards associated with the profession. Her first-hand experience highlighted the importance of integrity, accountability and commitment in public service.

To foster a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the civil service, the session included a mini role-play activity in which students simulated the recruitment process for civil servants. This interactive exercise allowed students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical context, enhancing their learning experience and preparing them for future careers in public administration. This hands-on approach not only made the learning process more enjoyable, but also highlighted the importance of effective recruitment practices in building a competent public service workforce.

The guest lecture is part of UWED's ongoing efforts to expose students to real-world applications of their studies. By inviting professionals from organisations such as ARGOS, the university aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical implementation in fields such as international law and public administration. The Faculty of International Law at UWED is committed to producing highly qualified professionals who are equipped to make a positive contribution to Uzbekistan's legal and public service sectors. The involvement of experienced practitioners ensures that students receive a comprehensive education that prepares them for the complexities of modern governance.
