The University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted a conference on the topic “External migration of women: a problem and ways to solve it”
On March 31 this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Department of Family and Women of Tashkent and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy held a conference on the topic “External migration of women: a problem and ways to solve it”.
The prestigious conference was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Svetlana Ortikova, Chairmwoman of the Committee on Women and Gender Equality of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Malika Kadirkhanova, Deputy Khokim of the city Tashkent – Head of the Department for Family and Women’s Affairs Nodira Umarova, Deputy Head of the Department of Personnel and Educational Institutions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shaydogul Zakirova, representatives of responsible ministries and departments, professors and students of the university.
The rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev, who opened the conference with an introductory speech, stressed that the problems associated with youth and women in Uzbekistan, crime, their falling into the networks of human trafficking and extremism, in many cases are associated with external labor migration and the need to pay attention education of more women, their participation in political life and their protection from violence while protecting human rights.
The conference was moderated by Etibor Sultanova, professor at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Doctor of Political Science. Lectures were delivered at the conference on such topics as: “The reasons for women leaving abroad, their analysis and classification, emerging problems and ways to solve them”, “Control over migrating women by internal affairs bodies”, “What attention should be paid to women in ensuring gender equality ? ”, “How I was abused in a foreign country and managed to get out of a difficult situation”, “Prevention of difficult situations and violence in a foreign country: facts that women and girls should pay attention to when traveling abroad”.
Specialists, representatives of non-governmental non-profit organisations and civil society institutions who took part in the event, revealed their findings and expressed their opinions on the reasons why women migrated abroad. They provided analysis and gave proper classification of the emerging problems and presented solutions.
