On September 17 of this year, a meeting was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy with representatives of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Central Asia.
Among the participants were the Acting Representative of UNHCR in Central Asia, Dumitru Lipcanu, Legal Advisor Hanifa Karimi and Protection Specialist Balzhan Oshakbaeva.
During the meeting with the university leadership, faculty, and students, a pressing issue that concerns the international community was discussed.
One of the key topics of discussion was the creation of a specialized course on refugee issues. It was noted that involving students in the process of developing curricula and courses would provide them with unique experiences and allow them to make a significant contribution to this important field.
An initiative was also presented to implement a course on international refugee law, adapted to local conditions and legislation.
As part of the meeting, UNHCR representatives conducted a quiz for students on this topic and awarded memorable gifts to the most active participants.
