UWED discussed prospects for cooperation with universities in the Philippines
On September 18 this year, a delegation headed by the Undersecretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, Deputy for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Maria Teresa P. Lazaro visited the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
The high-ranking diplomats were met by the First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Akram Umarov and the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Gulnoza Ismailova.
The meeting discussed proposals for establishing international cooperation in the field of education and exchanging experience between Philippine universities and UWED.
M. Teresa P. Lazaro emphasized that one of the priorities is to use the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) model in developing regional cooperation in Central Asia and turning education into a kind of unifying bridge.
In turn, A. Umarov noted that the university has scientists who conduct research on providing legal assistance and consultations according to the ASEAN model and this can help in regional and mutual integration.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the Philippine delegation delivered a report to the faculty and students of UWED on the topic: “Independent Philippine Foreign Policy un Accordance with National Interests under President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.”
