    On February 27 of this year, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to our country Yu Jun.

    The parties discussed the prospects for the Uzbek-Chinese interparliamentary partnership, as well as cooperation in the field of higher education and the introduction of innovative programs into the educational process.

    S. Safoev noted that the university, with the support of HUAWEI, is working on the Smart University project. He also proposed organizing trainings and seminars on the basis of UWED to study the experience of the PRC in the fight against poverty, as well as the activities of free economic zones in China.

    In turn, Ambassador Yu Jun expressed the Chinese side’s readiness to establish partnerships with the university in order to exchange experience and transfer best educational practices. At the same time, he said that a new program to improve the qualifications of teachers at Chinese universities will soon be created.

    On the same day, an international conference was held at UWED on the topic: “Modern trends in the development of the education sector: the experience of Uzbek and Chinese universities”.

    The event was attended by the leadership of the Center for Public Diplomacy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Chinese language teachers from various educational institutions of the two countries, as well as faculty, students and doctoral students of UWED.

    At the conference, the admission system to Chinese higher education institutions was reviewed, and the experience of teaching Chinese as a second foreign language at UWED and the Uzbek language at Chinese universities was presented.
