The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) held a welcoming meeting with a group of students from the University of Salento (Università del Salento, Lecce, Italy), who arrived in Tashkent as part of a student exchange program. The meeting was organized by the Department of Romance and Germanic Languages together with the UWED Office for International Academic Cooperation.

The exchange program is implemented in accordance with the Cooperation Agreement signed between the two universities in July 2024. It provides for the development of academic mobility, joint educational initiatives, as well as the expansion of intercultural dialogue between students and teachers.

In November 2024, four UWED students have already completed a month-long study at the Università del Salento, where they studied the Italian language and various specialized disciplines, as well as got acquainted with the academic and cultural life of the University. Currently, three students from Lecce are making a return visit to UWED, who will study the language for a month, as well as get acquainted with the university curriculum, participate in projects and student initiatives.

During the welcoming meeting, representatives of the Department of Romance and Germanic Languages and the Office for International Academic Cooperation familiarized the guests in detail with the educational opportunities of UWED, the structure of their curriculum, as well as existing student clubs and initiatives. Particular attention was paid to cultural events, excursion programs and opportunities for active participation in university life. This type of cooperation involves the practice of exchanging experience in the implementation of the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals, namely "Quality Education".

The participants emphasized the strategic importance and prospects of bilateral cooperation, noted its contribution to the formation of an open academic space and the mutual enrichment of educational systems. Students of the Università del Salento expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome and shared their expectations for the upcoming month filled with study, new impressions and acquaintance with the rich culture of Uzbekistan.
