Visit of the delegation of the European Parliament to the University of World Economy and Diplomacy

On April 16, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy was visited by EU parliamentarians headed by the Chairman of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Central Asian States Tomáš Zdechovský.
During the visit, a meeting was held with the leadership of UWED, headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Rector of UWED S. Safoev.
The parties discussed in detail the prospects for the further development of academic partnership, which provides for the exchange of students and teachers, as well as joint educational and research projects.
The delegation of the European Parliament also held an interested dialogue with the teaching staff and students of UWED. The focus was on topical issues related to the Central Asia-European Union summit held on April 4-5 in Samarkand. It was noted that the results of the summit are of particular importance, as they brought relations between the two regions to a new, strategic level.
Tomáš Zdechovský stressed the importance of the partnership between Central Asia and the countries of the European Union, and, in particular, the intensification of inter-parliamentary dialogue. Speaking about the special role of education in the development of international relations, he pointed out the importance of active academic exchange, especially among students, as an important tool for strengthening mutual understanding between countries.
The meeting became an important platform for the exchange of views and ideas on further strengthening relations between Central Asia and the European Union.
