UWED hosted the opening ceremony of the TIDA debate tournament

On April 12 this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted the opening ceremony of the TIDA debate tournament, dedicated to current issues of environmental protection and sustainable development as part of the UWED Week.
Opening the event, the first vice-rector for youth work and spiritual and educational work O. Yusuphjanov noted the importance of active participation of young people in environmental initiatives. He emphasized that it is the younger generation that plays a key role in shaping a sustainable future and preserving nature for future generations.
Chairman of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan A. Khamzaev expressed hope that this tournament will not only serve as a place for exchanging ideas, but will also become an impetus for new initiatives in the field of environmental protection and promotion of the green economy in the country. "Today we are not only discussing environmental issues, but also looking for ways to solve them. Each of you can make a contribution, starting with simple actions in everyday life," he said.
The tournament was organized within the framework of the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who declared 2025 the “Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy”.
Its main goal is to attract young people to issues of ecology, sustainable development and innovative green technologies. Participants will discuss environmental challenges and possible ways to overcome them to ensure a sustainable future.
The format of the tournament will correspond to the standards of American debates, which will ensure a high level of intellectual competition and strict rules. Participants will present their positions on environmental issues in team debates, which will create an opportunity to exchange ideas and develop effective solutions to current environmental problems.
Particular attention will be paid to students and young professionals who will be able to present their innovative ideas for improving the environmental situation in the country.
It should be noted that the TIDA debate tournament will last until April 19.
