On April 10, 2025, the Department of Uzbek and Russian Languages at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organized a visit to the house-museum of the great Uzbek writer Abdulla Qodiriy. The visit, held in honor of the writer’s birthday, aimed to commemorate the legacy of this remarkable figure - a devoted advocate of independence and a rare talent who left an indelible mark on the history of our nation.

Abdulla Qodiriy is one of the most prominent figures in 20th-century Uzbek literature. Through his timeless novels, he laid the foundation for modern Uzbek literature, providing a solid base for its future development and influencing generations of writers. Drawing inspiration from the ideas of Jadidism, Qodiriy’s works also celebrate the values of independence and freedom.

The educational event at the Qodiriy House-Museum was attended by members of the Department of Uzbek and Russian Languages, first-year students from the Faculty of International Relations and the Faculty of International Economy and Management, as well as activists from the Abdulla Qodiriy Mahalla Committee.

The visit provided students with valuable insights into the era in which Qodiriy lived and worked, offering a deeper understanding of his family environment, creative process, and the themes of his writings. The museum’s exhibits enriched this experience, bringing the past to life with vivid details.

A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to meet and converse with the museum’s director, historian Khondamir Qodiriy, the writer’s grandson. During a conversation with students, Khondamir Qodiriy recalled the words of the renowned literary critic, Professor Umarali Normatov: “The infamous 1930s swept Qodiriy into its abyss, physically destroying him, but they could not erase the spiritual legacy he left behind. The garden of beauty Qodiriy cultivated will endure for generations, offering spiritual nourishment and endless inspiration. Yet the tragic fate of such a great figure will remain an eternal sorrow in the hearts of future generations.”  He emphasized that the concern and dedication of sons of the nation like Abdulla Qodiriy for the future and prosperity of the people, homeland, and independence are an example and role model for the younger generation, and called on young people to be active and use their knowledge and abilities for the development of the country. The students found the experience both engaging and memorable, expressing a strong desire to participate in similar events in the future.
