A.S.I.E. and UWED: Partnership for a Sustainable Future

On April 10, 2025, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted a round table on the topic: "France's experience in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and youth participation", which brought together students and teachers and a representative of the French non-governmental organization A.S.I.E. (Association de solidarité internationale et d'éducation). Alain Payen, founder of A.S.I.E., which has been implementing projects in Uzbekistan in the field of culture, ecology, healthy lifestyle, innovative developments and water conservation for more than seven years, spoke at the event.
The main goal of the event is to expand the partnership between UWED and A.S.I.E. so that university students can take an active part in projects related to the achievement of the SDGs. The participants were told about short volunteer programs for young people, already implemented by this NGO: from joint expeditions to the regions of Uzbekistan to cultural festivals in France. Such initiatives help not only to strengthen intercultural dialogue, but also to involve students in relevant research on environmental protection, preservation of local traditions and efficient use of water resources.
A.S.I.E. and UWED have agreed to develop joint courses and organize working meetings where students can gain practical skills in the field of social innovation and environmental technologies. Particular attention will be paid to online formats that allow you to share materials and scientific results between the university and foreign partners in real time.
The participants of the round table discussed the possibility of a 10-day internship in the city of Bourges with the participation of students and undergraduates studying French and interested in the SDGs. Such an internship will become a platform for volunteer and research activities: from participation in eco-campaigns and master classes in traditional crafts to performances at cultural festivals. Such programs give young people a unique chance to develop leadership competencies, as well as apply knowledge of international sustainable development practices in practice.
During the meeting, the parties highly appreciated the enthusiasm and level of preparedness of UWED students. It was decided to expand the format of joint projects: invite French and Uzbek experts, hold online conferences, and also include students in the research and educational work of A.S.I.E. in Uzbekistan. Following the results of the round table, it is planned to sign a memorandum on further collaboration in order to bring the plans to life.
