The opening ceremony of the “UWED Chess Club” was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy
On February 18 this year, the opening ceremony of the “UWED Chess Club” was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, together with the Agency for Youth Affairs.
The event was attended by vice-rectors of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Odil Yusufzhanov, Ziyodulla Pulatkhojaev, as well as with a video message to the participants of the competition with an appeal, the First Deputy Minister of Youth Policy and Sports, Chairman of the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan Alisher Sadullaev sent congratulations to the university team on the occasion of the creation of the “UWED Chess Club” and wished the club success.
Opening the event, Vice-Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Ziyodulla Pulatkhojaev emphasized the importance of popularizing chess among young diplomats today and further developing students' logical thinking skills.
After the opening ceremony, a castling tournament was held between students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The competition, organized in connection with the opening of the “UWED Chess Club”, was held according to the “Swiss” system, and 100 students competed in this chess competition.
The winners of the 7th round were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts from the Agency for Youth Affairs.
