Meeting with an international observer from the USA
On October 25 of this year, a meeting was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy with Professor Nazif Shafrani, an anthropology and Central Asia and Middle East studies scholar from Indiana University Bloomington (USA).
Professor Shafrani, who arrived in our country as an international observer, positively assessed Uzbekistan's steps towards democratic development and noted the significant progress achieved in the transparency and openness of elections. He also highlighted the development of political pluralism in Uzbekistan, the active participation of political parties, and the opportunities for voters to make free choices. The professor emphasized that the improved electoral legislation of Uzbekistan is aligned with international standards.
In turn, Akram Umarov, the First Vice-Rector of UWED for academic affairs, suggested establishing cooperation with young researchers from the university.
The situation in Afghanistan was also discussed during the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, Professor Shafrani expressed his readiness to give a lecture for UWED students in the near future to share his knowledge and discuss important issues related to Afghanistan and international relations.
