    On October 22 of this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy was visited by a delegation of the Czech Republic headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavsky, who arrived in Tashkent on a working visit.

    Opening the meeting, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of UWED Sodyk Safoev, noted that the Czech Republic is a traditional and important partner of Uzbekistan in the European Union. He emphasized that the two countries have enormous opportunities for further deepening cooperation.

    In his speech, Jan Lipavsky recalled that the connection between the Uzbek and Czech peoples has deep roots. Speaking about the prospects for strengthening the partnership between the two countries, he noted that cooperation covers various areas - the railway industry, infrastructure, energy and much more.

    The Minister also emphasized that the Czech Republic is an active supporter of deepening ties between Uzbekistan and the European Union, including the upcoming conclusion of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.

    The meeting participants discussed a wide range of issues, including large-scale economic and social reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, as well as current topics in the fields of energy, transport and economics. Particular attention was paid to the strategic aspects of Uzbek-Czech relations, new trends in regional development in Central Asia and issues of global importance.

    At the end of the meeting, UWED students had the opportunity to ask questions to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, which contributed to an active exchange of opinions and strengthening of mutual understanding between the younger generation and representatives of Czech diplomacy.
