    Scientific and practical conference was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy on the topic: “The updated Constitution is the legal basis of our society”

    In order to ensure the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 16, 2023 “On preparation for the celebration of the Constitution Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan and its implementation,” on December 6, 2023, at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy was held a scientific and practical conference on the topic “The updated Constitution is the legal basis of our society". The event is timed to celebrate the 31st anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    During the event, issues related to the importance of the Constitution in the socio-political and economic life of our state, its role in ensuring the rule of law, prosperity and improving the well-being of the country and society, issues of establishing the principle of implementing a peaceful foreign policy as a new constitutional value were discussed; the importance of strengthening and enhancing Uzbekistan’s friendly relations with the world community and, above all, with neighboring countries, as well as the importance of the amendments to the Constitution in increasing the effectiveness of the reforms being carried out.

    The event was organized in a hybrid format, with the participation of representatives of government bodies and scientific and educational institutions, such as the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman), the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Uzbekistan,, the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, Institute of State and Law under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State Law University, Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Lawyers' Training Center under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan , Higher Judicial School, University of Public Security, Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the teaching staff of UWED.

    The main speakers at the event were the Chairwoman of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber for International Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Ties of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Fayzieva D.H., member of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islamov U.Sh., professor of the Institute of State and Law at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sulaimanov O.R., representative of the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ibadullaev S.Sh., professors of UWED Ismailova G.S., Nugmanov N.A., Yusuvalieva R.Yu. and students of the Faculty of International Law.

    In general, during the discussions, the participants of the event agreed that the Constitution of Uzbekistan in the new edition represents a set of important, timely and, to a certain extent, progressive norms aimed at further strengthening the rights and freedoms of the individual, the development of civil society and the state as a whole.
