    On April 9, 2025, a meeting was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) with Mohammad Reza Majidi, the Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, who is also a President at the Strategic Research Institute and an Associate Professor at Tehran University in Iran.

    The meeting was attended by Akram Umarov, the First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at UWED, and Gulnoza Ismailova, the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation.

    At the beginning of the meeting, the guest was informed about the main areas of activity of the university, and Akram Umarov gave a detailed information of the key achievements and future prospects of UWED since its establishment. In response, Mohammad Reza Majidi expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized his interest in mutual cooperation.

    Mohammad Reza Majidi, in turn, proposed opening new horizons for collaboration in the fields of research and education, with a focus on the interaction between parliaments in diplomacy and international relations. The main proposal was an initiative to create a course on “Parliamentary Diplomacy” with the support of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.

    In response, UWED proposed starting cooperation through online workshops and discussions on this topic. It was emphasized that the university is particularly interested in the role of parliaments in diplomacy.

    Furthermore, UWED leadership expressed interest in the initiatives of the Strategic Research Institute and proposed establishing joint research projects and mutual publications in the scientific journals of both universities.

    As a result of the visit, the parties agreed to develop cooperation, strengthen academic ties, and organize joint educational and scientific events. The participants of the meeting expressed their readiness to support each other’s initiatives aimed at strengthening relations between the universities, including student and faculty exchange programs, as well as the implementation of joint research projects.
