    On February 13 of this year, an online meeting was held between the parliamentary group of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation with the German Bundestag and the “Germany-Central Asia” parliamentary group of the Bundestag.

    It was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, rector of the University of the World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev, senators, Chairman of the Bundestag “Germany-Central Asia” parliamentary group, Eugen Schmidt, and members of this group.

    It is known that the “Germany-Central Asia” parliamentary group was established in 1994. The group is responsible for six countries - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia.

    During the meeting, they discussed the development and strengthening of relations between the German Bundestag and the parliaments of the Central Asian countries, the study of the experience of the German parliamentary system in supporting the rule of law and the construction of civil society structures.

    During the discussions, Sodyq Safoev emphasized the importance of further development of cooperation between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Germany, as well as the importance of friendly relations between parliamentary groups.

    At the end of the conversation, it was agreed to hold regular dialogue within the framework of inter-parliamentary friendship groups, to include energy security, ecology, education and cultural-humanitarian cooperation issues in the agenda of the next meeting.
