On September 26 of this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted an international conference of analytical centers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states on the topic: "New Agenda for Long-Term Cooperation".
The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the Center for Foreign Policy Research and International Initiatives, and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy with the support of the CIS Executive Committee.
The event was attended by the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan on Foreign Policy Issues Abdulaziz Kamilov, the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, leading CIS experts, as well as the faculty and students of UWED.
Opening the conference, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bobur Usmanov noted that it was organized as part of the implementation of the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced at a meeting of the Councils of Heads of State of the CIS.
The First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of UWED Akram Umarov, welcoming the participants of the event, emphasized that this is not the first time that the university has become an international platform for discussing key issues of global relations, economic development and diplomacy.
"We are proud that we can provide spaces for such significant discussions that contribute to strengthening scientific cooperation and developing partnerships among the CIS countries," said A. Umarov.
The experts from the CIS countries who spoke presented a deep analysis of the processes in the Commonwealth, considered the prospects and unrealized opportunities, and also assessed the potential risks to sustainable development.
During the international conference, the prospects for the development of economic cooperation and the "green" transition were discussed, including issues of industrial cooperation, trade, transport, energy and food security, as well as the cultural and humanitarian vector of cooperation.
