A round table was held on the topic “Transformation of Media in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”
On June 6, 2024, a round table was held in the conference hall of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy on the topic “Transformation of Media in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.”
The event was jointly organised by the Public Foundation for Support and Development of National Mass Media and the Institute of Advanced International Studies at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The roundtable brought together researchers, academics, journalists, bloggers, content creators and other experts in the field of media and communications.
Speakers at the roundtable included George Chen, former Managing Director of Facebook in China, Mongolia and Central Asia, and currently Managing Director and Co-Chair of the Digital Technology Practice at The Asia Group, and Byambajargal Ayushjav, Founder and Chairwoman of Faro Foundation.
George Chen shared his insights from his 20 years of experience in media, technology and public policy, presenting perspectives on the development of media in the context of rapid progress in Artificial Intelligence (AI). He highlighted potential risks that AI could pose for a new generation of journalists and publishers and shared his thoughts on addressing these challenges.
Byambajargal Ayushjav's presentation focused on the importance of digital literacy in the modern world. The expert underlined the necessity of equipping young people and adults with critical thinking and information analysis skills to effectively address the challenges of the digital era.
The event delved into key issues related to the integration of AI into the media landscape, including the automation of news content, the impact of AI on journalistic ethics, methods for protecting data and privacy, and the role of AI in combating misinformation and fake news.
