    On May 10th of this year, a Masters level scientific and practical conference titled “Uzbek Diplomacy A Look at the Origins of the Ambassadorial Institution” was held at the Diplomatic Academy of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

    The conference, organized at the initiative of the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, rector of UWED, S. Safoev, is being held to implement measures to deepen ongoing reforms in the field of education, organize the activities of educational institutions based on best international practices, and provide additional support, as outlined in the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    The event was attended by masters and doctoral students from UWED and the University of Oriental Studies.

    Dr. A. Khaidarov, Director of the Diplomatic Academy, Doctor of Political Sciences and Professor, opened the conference by emphasizing that while the topic has been covered in various literature during the period of independence, it has not been on the agenda of a specialized scientific and practical conference.

    The speakers placed their main emphasis on the deep historical roots and rich traditions of Uzbek diplomacy. Doctoral students from the Academy presented their research on the period of diplomacy in empires, khanates, and other regimes that dominated the territory of our region from ancient times to the formation and development of diplomacy in independent Uzbekistan.  In particular, lectures were given on the following topics: Historical Roots of Uzbek Diplomacy”,  Development of Diplomatic Relations during the Time of Amir Temur”, Development of the Ambassadorial Institution in Central Asia”, Baburid Diplomacy”, Diplomacy during the Uzbek Khanate”, and Diplomacy of Modern Uzbekistan”.

             At the end of the event, participants shared their views and proposed holding a republican scientific-practical conference on the topic “Diplomacy of Uzbekistan: Yesterday and Today”.
