An expanded meeting of the Academic Council of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy was held
On August 28 this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted an expanded meeting of the Academic Council, as well as a solemn event dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of UWED Sodyq Safoev congratulated all the participants of the meeting, as well as the university staff and students on Independence Day and the upcoming new academic year.
During the meeting of the Academic Council, the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures for the systemic reform of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy” No. 330 dated July 23, 2022 was considered.
It was noted that within the framework of fulfilling the tasks provided for in this document, the UWED transformation office was created, and a program for the medium and long-term development of the University was adopted. New curricula have been developed in all areas of undergraduate and graduate programs. Conceptual changes have been made to the curricula, and the educational process itself has been completely transferred to the updated Learning Management System (LMS).
About 50 specialists from more than 10 countries of the world take an active part in the educational and scientific activities of the UWED. Over the past academic year, the University hosted more than 150 international events, signed 24 cooperation agreements with foreign educational institutions and authoritative International organizations. With the support of the Chinese company Huawei, the implementation of the Smart University concept has begun.
In accordance with the Decree of the Head of State, the Diplomatic Academy and the Institute for Advanced International Studies have been established under UWED and successfully launched their activities.
On the basis of advanced foreign experience, the activities of the Academic Lyceum at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy are being reformed. Currently, the Lyceum has signed agreements on the implementation of joint educational programs in cooperation with the German University VIADRINA and the Finnish Karelian University of Applied Sciences.
The members of the Academic Council who spoke during the meeting drew attention to the progress made, and also made proposals for further improvement of educational and research activities.
Summing up the results of the extended meeting of the Academic Council, Rector of the University S. Safoev emphasized that much remains to be done to fully implement the Presidential Decree aimed at modernizing the University, and this work will continue consistently. Its main goal is to train highly qualified personnel with modern knowledge, high spiritual and moral qualities, independent, critical and creative thinking.
“I am sure that the teaching staff, the entire team with high responsibility and unanimity will approach this important task entrusted to the University of World Economy and Diplomacy by the Head of our state,” the rector concluded.
