    Biography Facts

    Elena Borisova is currently the Head of the English Language Department at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. She oversees the English language programmes for the first and second year students, where English is a key part of the programme. She teaches the ESP (English for Specific Purposes) course, which is applied and designed to help students develop the skills and competences required for their future professional activities, with a particular focus on teaching English for Academic Purposes, English for Political Science and International Relations.  Elena Viktorovna has authored textbooks on Diplomatic Correspondence and guidelines for students on academic writing. She has been nominated multiple times by the Iste’dod Foundation of the President of Uzbekistan and the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In 2016, she completed professional development training at the Norwich Institute for Language Education, where she was nominated the winners in the “Best English Language Teacher of the Year” competition, a national recognition awarded to English language instructors at the university level in Uzbekistan. Additionally, she received a prestigious scholarship from the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent, representing Uzbekistan in the TESOL Exchange on Environmental Conservation and Sustainability held in Portland, Oregon, and Tampa, Florida. This program joined  twelve other representatives from various countries, all unified by the shared objective of advancing Sustainable Development Goals in environmental conservation and sustainability in higher education process.

    Elena’s  professional expertise extends beyond the classroom. Her interests include translation, interpretation, and professional development in the field of language education. She has completed numerous professional training courses, including:

    • 2014: Training course on simultaneous interpretation, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Seoul, Korea)

    • 2016: Professional development course, Norwich Institute for Language Education (NILE, UK)

    • 2016-2017: Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCERT), Westminster University in Tashkent

    • 2018: Professional development course, MGIMO University (Moscow, Russia)

    • 2024: TESOL Exchange on Environmental Conservation and Sustainability, Portland, Oregon, USA

    Her research interests focus on a learner-centered approach in education, teaching translation and interpretation as well as the fields of teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Elena Borisova has been conferred the diplomatic rank of attaché by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
