Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan visited University of World Economy and Diplomacy
On April 30 this year, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodik Safoev met with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
Opening the meeting, S. Safoev noted that the historic visit of the President of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev to Japan in 2019 gave a new, powerful impetus to bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan, including in the scientific and educational field.
It was emphasized that at present UWED cooperates with such prestigious educational centers in Japan as Nagoya University, Nippon Academy, Waseda University, Saitama University, Hokkaido University.
The UWED operates the Analytical Center for Scientific Research of Japan, the Japanese language is studied in depth, traditional events are regularly held, such as “Japan Holidays”, “Japanese Culture Days”, “Imperial Institute in Japan”, competitions “Japanese Calligraphy Mastery”, “Secrets of Japanese Art” ikebana”, “Aikido sports traditions in Japan”.
During the event, Sodik Safoev read out the decision of the UWED Academic Council on awarding the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Yoshimasi Hayashi the title of Honorary Doctor of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
In his speech, Y. Hayashi thanked the staff of the university for conferring the title of Honorary Doctor of UWED and expressed his readiness to make every effort in the future to intensify cooperation between Japan and Uzbekistan in the scientific and educational field.
Japanese Foreign Minister Y. Hayashi left an entry in the Book of Honored Guests of the UWED.
