Online meeting with representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Belgium
April 22, 2020 at 16:00 on the online platform of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy website an online meeting was held between professors, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as doctoral students and university applicants with representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Kingdom of Belgium and the Mission of the Republic of Uzbekistan at NATO - adviser to the political affairs Mamatov R. and adviser for cooperation with the European Union Ismailov M. on the topic: “Perspectives of cooperation Uzbekistan and the EU. ”
During the meeting, which took place in the untraditional non-protocol manner, in the form of an open and friendly dialogue, representatives of the embassy introduced participants to the structure, main dimensions of activity and the current agenda of the diplomatic mission. In particular, they discussed issues of background, legislative base, current status and prospects for the development of bilateral and multilateral relations between Uzbekistan and the EU in various areas of interaction.
Also, the guests answered questions from participants regarding the role of public chambers in the EU, the EU’s position in the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), prospects for signing an agreement on expanding partnerships (SRAP) between Uzbekistan and the EU, various Uzbekistan-EU cooperation platforms (subcommittees, political consultations), anti-crisis measures of the EU and Uzbekistan to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the economies of countries, the state of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU in the field of agriculture. An exchange of views took place regarding the transformation of the European agenda in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, on the conceptual foundations of the EU legal status, etc.
This meeting also provided an opportunity for students to get acquainted with the daily work of embassy representatives and answer the main question - how to be a diplomat in real life.
